That's very nice, i see that you put a lot of effort into it there, the shading is nice, Ann and Andy look cute, you've done a good job there.
This is one of the sweetest Raggedy Ann and Andy pics I've ever seen! I can't stop looking at this pic!
Still one of my favorite fanarts... It's just so adorable! (I actually kinda ship them. Mainly cuz I didn't grow up knowing they were supposed to be siblings, and partly because on reading the Raggedy Ann and Andy stories by Johnny Gruelle, I discovered that in that universe, Raggedy Andy wasn't made by the same hands that made Ann, nor are they made from the same cloth. I was a little surprised when I read the story that mentioned the stuff like that after my mom started telling me they were siblings... I suppose they usually just think of each other as siblings in the stories and cartoons, but this movie was just one of the few times that they almost forgot about that. Before this, it was 1941. That Raggedy Ann was SUPER possessive over her Andy...)
And yet this is one of the only films in which they make it obvious that they're related (when they mention that they are brother and sister). Oh well, my childhood got warped, anyway. I didn't have a sibling, so I always mistook sibling love for romantic love in movies, and what was worse, the only Raggedy Ann and Andy cartoon I grew up with was the one where they actually don't mention being siblings at all. And my mother never told me they were siblings. I didn't find this out until just the other day now that I'm 20. ._.
By the way, this is uber adorable! <3
By the way, this is uber adorable! <3
Aww! This is so cute!
Correction they are sorry about that.
They aren't siblings .
Yes, they are. Incest or not, they are siblings. Johnny Gruelle--their creator--made them to be siblings and even IN the musical movie, Ann calls Andy her brother & Andy defends his sister from looney knight Sir Leonard ("Lay off my sister!"). They're closer than any real siblings, because Andy was made to complement Ann as a tribute to Marcella in real-life after Gruelle's daughter (the real Marcella) died at 13.
I don't care, I will never consider them as a siblings. If despite that, they are, I don't care if there's incest!
Definatly reminds me of an 80s style cartoon. Love the 80s
I don't saw something beyond a brotherly love in the movie... or maybe the writer didn't knew the original books.
"You lay off my sister, Sir Lenard!" - Andy to looney knight, Sir Leonard.
... I don't get it.
An Andy quote from the trippy Musical Adventure film that had the Candy Hearts & Paper Flowers song that basically implicated incest between the siblings (but then again, the creator had Andy literally made to complement his sister Ann as a tribute to daughter Marcella--who was given Ann for her earliest birthday and died at the tender age of 13 due to the smallpox vaccine gone wrong--which, in turn, would made Ann & Andy soulmates, despite being related).
I saw the movie, but it was very weird... and scary sometimes. Also I know about the fate of the real Marcela, I still don't get why the vaccine went wrong. But in the books Ann and Andy are brothers.
Poor choice of voice actors and song lyrics led to the incest note in the movie. Most people see it - a few don't.
You know what? No. They're dolls. They are not born, therefor they can not have the same mother and father, therefor the title of "brother and sister" can't be legit. I think they just say that cause they don't know any better.
Holy cow, this was the same train of thought I was having late last night when I was half asleep. But that wouldn't be the first time I've had that train of thought... I think the first time I had it was when I was hardcore into Astro Boy (the anime and manga series).
You know I never saw this one, but your art is fantastic!
that is very adorable my friend.
Thank you very much!
I've never seen this movie before! Is it a good one?
Well it's not a great movie itself but it's worth watching. A lot of the songs and animation are great but the story itself... well it doesnt make much sense. It's kinda like one big acid trip
Acid trip, you say? Then I just may enjoy it after all!
Its by the same guy who did Who Framed Roger Rabbit? if that means anything
Not in my opinion. DX
I know, right!!
Not sure who you're replying to... ah, well.
to your comment that raggedy ann and andy like each other a bit too much, lol
Bro & sis or not, they are soulmates, as sick as that sounds. Why? They were quite LITERALLY made for each other by their own creator Johnny Gruelle, who made Ann for his daughter Marcella. Andy was made to complement Ann as a tribute to Marcella, since she died of getting the smallpox vaccine when she was 13.
I am still trying to work this into my head... X_X I'm one of the kids that grew up not knowing they were siblings- I just thought they were best friends or something. I'm 20, like I said, and just the other day, I found out they were siblings... >_> I feel so fooled or like wool was pulled over my eyes or something... Even tougher when people look at me and my boyfriend and they don't see a couple- they see siblings... ._. I mean, I'm like "...?! HEY! We're not siblings!" and then they're like "Oh! But you two look so much alike!"... (Off-topics somewhat) AND THEN MY BOYFRIEND JUST SO HAPPENS TO LOOK A LOT LIKE RAGGEDY ANDY TO ME AND I DON'T KNOW WHY. Like, if I was to put him in the outfit and the orange/red yarn-like wig, with make-up and everything, he would make a pretty good Raggedy Andy... X_X
And lemme guess, you'd be the Raggedy Ann, as it were? Like I said, siblings or not, they're soulmates. The reason people confuse the officially documented fact that they're siblings with them as "more than friends" is because of not only the Musical Adventure film [ www.youtube.com/watch?v=hlYVWh… ] that--despite mentioning that the two WERE related--come off like some bad drug trip it seems (being that it was made in the 1970s, I am not surprised), but also because of the old Fliesher cartoon that actually DID make the two rag dolls lovers [ www.youtube.com/watch?v=r8TPqC… & www.youtube.com/watch?v=AjoatV… ].
